Rice Memorial High School is located in South Burlington, Vermont, a suburb of Burlington, the largest city in Vermont with a total population for the region of about 168,865. There are five colleges in the area including the University of Vermont. The University (and an associated regional teaching hospital) and Global Foundries are major employers in the area. Rice’s demographics are unique in that its students come from over 34 towns in Vermont, 11 states and 12 countries encompassing a variety of educational backgrounds. Rice students come from a wide array of religious backgrounds with approximately 54 percent Catholic.
